SAFE KIDS Fairfield County offers programming that utilize the American Heart Association curriculum on CPR and First Aid.

Heartsaver AED:
This class teaches CPR, AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) use, relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief of choking as well as the use of barrier devices for all ages.
The total length of the class is approximately 3 ½ hours. The class can also be taught without the infant component reducing the class time to approximately 2 ½ hours.
This class is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of a job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.
Heartsaver First Aid:
The Heartsaver First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.
Course content includes General Principals, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies. Optional topics include CPR and AED, and Environmental Emergencies.
The approximate time of this class with all topics included is 7 ½ hours, 6 ½ hours without infant CPR and 3 ½ hours for First Aid only.
This class is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.
Family & Friends CPR:
The Family & Friends CPR program teaches how to perform CPR in adults, children, or infants and how to help an adult, child, or infant who is choking.
The approximate time of this class is 2 ½ hours, 1 hour and 15 minutes without infant CPR and 1 hour for infant only.
This class is for family members, friends and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card.
Family & Friends First Aid for Children:
The Family & Friends First Aid for Children program teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child for the few minutes until professional help arrives. The program covers such topics as preventing injuries, recognizing and treating basic first aid emergencies, and basic relief of choking in infants and children.
The approximate time of this class is 45 minutes.
This class is for those caring for infants and children, such as family members, babysitters, and others providing in-home care who want basic first aid information but do not need a course completion card.
