Dear Parent or Caregiver:
Fairfield County SAFE KIDS has set a new
standard in the area of injury prevention by bringing
together two hospital institutions as the core of the
Coalition. We have also partnered with many other organizations
both locally and nationally to work in a collaborative
effort to reduce unintentional injury to our youth.
Our Mission Statement is as follows:
The Fairfield County SAFE KIDS Coalition (FCSK), as part of a broader national initiative exists to provide education, programming and advocacy to help reduce unintentional injury to children ages 14 and under. Unintentional Injury claims more lives and permanently disables more children than all other childhood causes combined; many of these injuries are preventable through well coordinated programs such as those provided by Fairfield County SAFE KIDS.
FCSK Coalition has focused its efforts on children and families in Fairfield County with special emphasis on those at the highest risk and with the greatest potential need.
The Coalition was formed in 1998 with
a grant from the Nason Foundation and is part of the
National SAFE KIDS Campaign, the first and only organization
dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional
injury. The Coalition's mission is to unite organizations
and individuals in a grassroots movement to promote
the understanding and prevention of unintentional injuries
and death to children age 14 and under.
Since its inception, the Coalition has
pursued any and all opportunities to provide educational
programs to the public. In addition to our local programs
we have successfully created two national programs.
We continue to look for new and innovative
ways to teach people about the importance of injury
prevention. The Coalition welcomes every opportunity
and idea and would be happy to work with others that
share our goals. To
